Dental implants can last a lifetime, and once they’re in your jawbone, they will act as your tooth’s new root. First, the jaw bone has to be determined whether it is strong enough for the implant. Once we do that, we then drill into your jawbone with bio-compatible titanium screws, which then act as the alternate root for the new tooth.
After 12-16 weeks, your jawbone fuses with the screw, and once the foundation is set, we can then take an impression of your tooth. The dentist will customize the abutment and create what’s called a dental crown which is placed on top of the implant.
After that, your next appointment will involve the customization of the abutment and place the crown on top of the implant after which the permanent crown will be placed and your your mouth will feel comfortable and secure.
